Park Avenue Armory Quilts

I so wish I could have seen in person the incredible collection of 651 red and white quilts on display this month at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City.  The quilt collection was loaned by Joanna Rose to the American Folk Art Museum for the purpose of this exhibit, called "Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts".  Infinite variety indeed - no two are quite alike, and it's incredible to note how timeless and even modern many of the patterns seem.

Nightstand Alternative: Skirted Table

Thanks for the feedback on the nightstand debate yesterday!  Though while brainstorming for a client's nightstand options, I came across these appealing alternatives - skirted tables, round or rectangular, used as a nightstand next to the bed.  I love this option especially when used with wooden headboards, to help soften the look.

What do you think?

Nightstand Favorites...

This is the year...  we're going to celebrate 10 years of marriage by finally graduating from a double bed to a king, and by purchasing new grown-up, coordinating night stands (the one I currently use hails from the dump).  And by 'we', I really mean 'me' - my better half might maybe notice his new nightstand by the time we hit 20 years (unless he happens upon this blog post, which is unlikely).

Here are the contenders - the Jacqui, the Marco (wrapped grasscloth!), and the Greek Key...

And some real bedroom images featuring these stands...

Vote for your favorite - I'm itching to make a purchase!

Michael Devine Garden Folly

We recently featured Michael Devine's Fretwork in a recent post and have since become obsessed with his amazing work. His hand painted fabric is printed locally and has been featured in some of the most prestigious showrooms in America and Europe.  And as much as we adore his Fretwork, I am head-over-heels in LOVE with "Garden Folly".  Have a look!

It is only a matter of time before you come home to live with me!

Hello little tray...come home to Mama!

And here is a little tease of some of Michael Devine's other incredible fabrics!

What do you think about "Garden Folly"?

Lighting Love

One of my favorite ways to uniquely transform a space?  A "statement" lighting fixture that sets the stage for the design of the room....

Have a great weekend!

Outdoor Furniture - Look for Less!

'Tis the season to get your patio ready for the much needed spring weather.  If you ask me, it can't come early enough!  If your mailbox looks anything like mine, you have been bombarded with catalogs from the usual suspects with all their gorgeous patio and pool furniture.  What amazes me is that so much of it looks very similar, but has dramatically different price points.

Have a look at the Ventana Collection from Restoration Hardware for $2305 - $2745:

This is the Miami Conversation set from Target , available for $1499:

Again, here is the La Jolla collection from Restoration Hardware outdoor dining set for about $3800:

This is the Soho Dining set from Frontgate for $2395:

And here is a similar Schou set from Target for $499 - $599!
Where will you be sitting this summer?!
