Nursery Envy: Get the Look

I've randomly come across this nursery a few times on Pinterest, and each time I see it, my jaw drops...

The layering of color, pattern and texture is perfection!  I love that the nursery is sophisticated, but without taking itself too seriously (ie the cheap paper poms hung against the backdrop of the to-die-for custom draperies!).

Check out our ideas for getting the look!

Up All Night Chair: Update!

Last week we posted about the gorgeous, but unidentified, fabric covering the living room chairs on the Up All Night set.

A reader named Darcie was kind enough to write in and identify it for us.  While I was searching Lee Lofa, Schumacher, and Kravet, figuring it for a $100/yard or more fabric, turns out its made by Waverly, and sells for just $10.95/yard!

The fabric is indeed indoor/outdoor, and is called "A New Twist".  It comes in three colorways...

Thanks for letting us know Darcie!

Hope you had a great weekend,
Deb

Chair Envy: Up All Night

Thursday nights are my favorite comedy night, hands down, with an enviable line-up on NBC including 30 Rock and Up All Night.  Have you caught the new sitcom starring Christina Applegate and Will Arnett yet?  It's pretty legit - Appelgate's comedic timing is spot on, and Arnett (husband of Amy Poehler   .. imagine the comedic chops of their offspring?) is cute as the exasperated husband/new dad.

I love the family's California mid-century ranch - even though it's not very "me".  Specifically, I'm totally distracted by/obsessed with the family living room chairs...

How awesome is that cheerful but modern upholstery fabric?

MSN's "Get the Look" identifies the chair as the Cara Tall from MGBW....

Mitchell Gold Bob Williams Cara Tall Chair

...and the upholstery fabric as Sunbrella, with links to the following....

Those fabrics, all Calico Corners, are cute and everything, but sooooo not the real deal from the show.  I've looked high and low... does anyone recognize the fabric from the Up All Night chairs?

Have a great weekend,
Deb

Mud Envy!

Our kitchen looked like a tornado hit this past week when we had our second measly snowstorm of the season (the first one hitting just before Halloween). While I was grateful for the fun family time in the snow, I was not so excited about the piles of boots, hats, mittens, jackets, snowpants etc etc etc which magnified the glaring lack of a mudroom in our current abode. Makes me envious of those lucky enough to have a mudroom... especially ones that are as well organized and lovely as these:

For the kids:

It doesn't have to be huge! Look at these awesome mudroom nooks!

Happy Organizing!

How Do You Like Your Taxidermy?

Do you love the concept of taxidermy for your mountain/lake/ski home (you all have one of those, right?), but are grossed out by the real deal?

Aerin Lauder's Aspen home

Fear not, my PETA-loving friends, there are plenty of options out there for you!

For starters, you could pick up artist David Cole's deer head lego kit!

The funky catalog Uncommon Goods offers various options in cardboard...

Or you could follow Design Sponge's instructions to make your own DIY newspaper taxidermy!

RubysLounge sells stunning resin taxidermy on etsy...

Ever heard of "crochetdermy"?  Well, you have now, courtesy of master crochet artist Shauna Richardson...

This felt taxidermy would be so unique in a nursery, don't you think?

Or you could go for Etsy seller Misfit Menagerie's stuffed animal faux taxidermies...

How would you use faux taxidermy?
